Quarantine with a Preschooler

I have a confession to make: some days I love working from home, and other days I want to send them all to school so I can be ALONE.

With the quarantine, we are all together all day. I’m sure you understand. What surprised me is that I already know the drill — we end up doing a similar schedule every summer thanks to school being out, and me being a teacher, and all. We already know how to do this! I know how important this is! Routine is teaching 101!

I’m as bad as the kids — forget everything as soon as I’m out of the school building. So, we finally have a set routine and have gotten into a groove. I’m practicing self-care in the form of exercise, eating right, and setting hours I work and times I play. The kids are getting outside, making crafts, and trying to not be on the iPad or computer all day (when I dream of Peppa Pig with the background music of Prodigy, I know we have been on electronics to much for the day).

I’m focusing on being present with the kids, which is honestly a struggle for me. I like when they play with each other so I can focus my attention to one of my projects. That is not how this is going to work, and I am learning to grow. I’m realizing that I feel more alive and I actually get more done when I’ve taken time to be a mom, and not just fill the role of mom. Did you just hear angels singing in the background? Must have been Prodigy . . .

Here are some of my favorite activities to do with Baby. Maybe it will spark something in you as well!

Drop me a note about what you like to do with your preschooler. I’m always looking for new ideas!
